Are you worried about your niche? A client asked me today, did you change your niche, Debbie? I said, no, I didn't change my niche, but I did change the way I talked about it. and that's what we're gonna talk about in today's episode. I'm gonna explain to you why that matters more than ever.

If you're a woman over 50 who has a coaching business. Today I'm gonna talk about the real truth about marketing your coaching business. Why keeping things simple, why narrowing your niche, and why branding matters more than ever.

I'm Debbie Shadid. I've helped over 10,000 coaches not only build, but also grow professional, polished, profitable, boutique style coaching businesses. So why does this matter? Why do you need to change the way you talk and maybe even narrow your niche? To have effective marketing? Well, ai, yeah. AI has made it so easy for everyone to produce content, which means that there are more people out there producing content.

I'm sure you've noticed that. It seems like everybody's more consistent on social media than ever before. Let me tell you the secret to standing out. Number one is to be more specific. It is to not be generic anymore. It's to be more clear about who you're talking to and exactly what is going on with them.

The secret to standing out is doing just that. Don't be afraid to narrow your niche. When you narrow your niche and you are talking to somebody, like right now I'm talking to coaches over 50. I actually know what your problems specifically are when it comes to marketing.

That's what this episode is all about. when I decided, I'm gonna talk to coaches only over 50, I wanted to do some research and share this with you because this will show you why narrowing down even further will help your business. I went to Chat GPT and I said, how many women are there over 50 in the US alone, 68 million.

Then I ask, how many of those women want to be their own boss? 50 to 60% of those same women, want to be their own boss. .

Their top motivators are flexibility, independence, and they want to have purpose-driven work. Can you see how much more powerful it is to narrow down your niche? Now I'm talking to somebody specific and I'm gonna bet you're on the other end saying, yep, that's me. I wanna work for myself. I want flexibility, independence, and I wanna do what I know I'm meant to do. tell me in the comments, who are you gonna coach or who do you coach?

So let's talk even further about why women over 50 are built for successful coaching businesses. First of all, you bring decades. I know that sounds like a lot, decades of wisdom, emotional maturity, and life experience. And your clients will trust you faster. You've already navigated career shifts.

And family demands and personal growth. You have had transformation and you understand naturally how to create it. You're not afraid of hard work. You've built resilience through the many real life challenges that you've faced. You communicate with empathy, right? Because you understand you've been there.

You have confidence and a calm authority about you, which is exactly what coaching clients are looking for in a coach, according to consumer studies, older women. Are often seen as more trustworthy, more credible and stable. I can tell you that I actually do coach some younger women and they come to me and say, I want a mom figure.

I want somebody to be like my mom coach. So you see it works both ways.

So my friend, based on what I just told you, it is time to take the leap of faith. Do not hesitate anymore. Let's talk about marketing. We coach women who are all different niches. We have coaches who support widows through grief,

we have a coach who helps women set boundaries for how to do it and when to do it. We have financial coaches. We have people coaching around betrayal, and every one of those. It is at least over 50, and I have somebody celebrating their 70th birthday in just a couple of months. So if you are loving what I'm talking about, I'm gonna talk more about marketing for women over 50.

Make sure you subscribe and hit the bell. I'm gonna share lots more tips on what it takes to build a boutique style coaching business. Okay, so why coaches are the answer in this age group. I know that you need help turning your aspirations into action, and that's what I'm gonna talk about is a four part process for marketing.

I want to tell you exactly what you need to do step by step. And I wanna tell you, you don't need to have flashy marketing. All you need to do is have simple, clear, consistent marketing where you are consistently visible.

let me share a four part plan to market your coaching business. Again, specifically designed for women over 50, what to focus on and where to get started. Before we start, if you are in your office. Grab a pencil. If not, make a note of where you're at in this video and come back to it.

I wanna ask you a couple of important questions. I think this will really help you. In my morning journaling. I ask myself some tough questions this very morning, and I had the biggest aha maybe I've ever had in decades. let me ask you the same questions.

If this is your dream, why are you waiting? Oh my goodness. Take some time and journal that. Really think about why are you waiting. I promise I'm gonna get to the marketing steps in just a moment. I just thought this was really, really important for you to ask yourself a couple of questions. What is the problem?

If you really want to do this, what is the problem? The second question is, why are you settling for trying to figure it out on your own? Let's be honest here. You probably have Googled all kinds of things. I know what your story is because I was where you were. question number three.

What are you actually waiting for? People tell me all the time, I'm waiting for the right time. What are you waiting for? And question number four. And that's it on the questions. Why do you think it's okay to wait? Why don't you wanna show up? Why don't you wanna get paid clients right now? Why does all of this matter?

Why am I talking about it today? Because I believe you're in the right place to build a business. So let's make sure that your marketing is the right kind of marketing. Alright, so now that we've cleared out that mental clutter, let's talk about what you actually need to do to move your business forward.

Part one of this four part simple, doable strategy that is made for women over 50. We're gonna help you. Market your business with confidence. Pillar number one, build a confident professional presence. Your presence is the first thing that anybody sees. Your brand is the first impressions. Before you ever say one word, people have already sized you up.

A polished brand gives you this borrowed confidence because while you're behind the scenes still trying to figure out, am I doing it all right? While you're learning the tech, your brand, if it is professional and polished, is actually creating a reputation for you, you can choose really great photos that represent an identity of who you are.

All of those things will set you up for success. In the very beginning. Okay, so that's pillar number one. Build a confident professional brand presence. Pillar number two, get clear and specific about your message. I promise you, if you narrow your niche to something you know really well, it will be so easy for you to talk about it when you are talking about something that you have experienced.

That you know so well, you don't have to think about what's gonna be my next story. . I could tell you everything about marketing your business specifically to women over 50.

Why? Because I do it day in and day out. use everyday language in your marketing to explain the transformation your coaching offers. Clarity makes people trust you, and it helps them to also refer you. This is one piece of really simple marketing that so many of you are missing out on.

You don't talk about your business because you decide that the person you might tell about your business is not your ideal client. And what I wanna tell you is you should be telling everyone about your business. Once you understand how to communicate simply and effectively tell everybody, because referrals are the very best thing that can happen for you.

. So I met with this client. Just today, and she was talking about starting her coaching business, . She said, I'm gonna talk to women who feel defeated and overwhelmed. And I know this coach, so I know her story.

But I said. In what area are they defeated or overwhelmed? I mean, that could be in relationships, that could be with family, with career, with their health challenges. It could be with so many things. Well, as we went on, she picked one of those very specific topics. Now, when we have a specific topic, it's so easy to talk about.

Feeling defeated in one situation or feeling overwhelmed in one situation. And what I want you to hear is that when you narrow down your niche that far, you still get to coach around everything that you love. I'm only talking about the marketing message that brings somebody in with a specific problem.

Once they hire you, you know what happens. You start coaching somebody, the next thing you know, you're talking about their dog and their kids and their career and all kinds of things, right? So many things enter into the picture that the client didn't even know mattered. don't worry about. Niching down too far and missing out on doing the work that you love.

Pillar number three is to create a weekly plan that works for your life. Now let's talk about marketing in general. What marketing would you as a woman over 50? Want to do, and I'm gonna tell you the things I think you need to do. Number one is to pick one social media platform, just one. I know you're thinking, yeah, but everybody says I should be everywhere.

Nope. If you have not been any one place consistently, we're gonna pick one, and I recommend that you do it every single day. Get really good at that. It's like you have to build some confidence around one thing before you go anywhere else. And I can tell you it takes more time than what you know. To create one really good quality social media posts.

Then a whole bunch of, uh, AI created social media posts. I don't want you to do those. I want you to really put your heart and soul into a post and do one of those every day. Then I want you to offer workshops. I want you to be teaching people. I know all this life experience that you have and the coaching education that you have.

Maybe the certification. All of that is waiting to be shared. I know that you have wisdom that you want to give to somebody. So many of the women I talk to, they're like, I wanna write a book, I wanna speak. It all starts with your coaching first. Okay? Start working with people individually, and to do that you've got to do marketing weekly.

So have workshops, Educate people on a smaller scale through workshops. The book will come, I promise, but start right there. So that could be workshops, weekly, open coaching. It could be any kind of sessions that you can have kind of in a group setting to really help people see that you are an expert and an authority.

All right, the last piece for your weekly plan is to do email marketing. Email is incredible and it's not going away. I can tell you that I actually get more consultations booked. More coaching sold through emails than I do anything else. What happens is that it starts with a podcast like this.

You opt into something. Maybe you go follow me on social media, Eventually, you end up in my email and then you get an email and I make an offer to you. This is why email marketing is important, so there's two parts to that. You're gonna have to grow your list.

But also then communicate with your list consistently. So again, that's the weekly plan, which includes social media on one platform, a workshop, and then email marketing. fourth pillar is so simple and so overlooked. Start talking about your business. You're like, what? I told you this was gonna be simple.

Talk about your business everywhere you go right now, you're the best kept secret. I mean, seriously, does anybody really know what you do? Learn how to talk about your business, talk about it everywhere. I recommend that you meet a couple new people every single week, and when I say meet people, I'm talking about developing relationships.

It's like social media. I'll backtrack to pillar three for a moment. Social media is meant to be social. You make connections and your social on social media. Don't expect people to comment or like your post if you're not doing the same on social media as well.

Pillar. Number four, it's all about building up momentum through conversations. Yeah. The whole entire pillar is about talking about your business. Are you talking about your business? I'm gonna guess the answer's no, And I get it. One of the reasons why you're not talking about it is 'cause you dunno what to say.

You're not comfortable, you're not confident, and the only way that you learn what to say Is by starting to say things. don't be the best kept secret. Tell everybody that you know about your business. I recommend that you actually meet a couple of people every single week.

It's like on your to-do list for the week, part of your weekly plan. Meet two new people each week and then build a relationship with them. I'm talking about having a conversation with one or two people so they really know what you do so they can refer you. So that they can tell other people about you.

In a year's time now, we've met 50 or a hundred people. This makes a huge difference. I will tell you the follow up part is on you though. If you meet somebody out at a networking event or at the playground or at the gym, it's not their responsibility to follow up with you. It's your responsibility. Hey, let me get your number, or let's connect on social media so that you keep the communication.

Open between them. Make sure that when you are meeting people help 'em. I can give you all the help in the world and I'm completely confident that some of you guys are gonna hire me. The same goes for your coaching. When I say host workshops or talk to people or support people, you can give all the value in the world and really make a difference through what you teach.

And people still want somebody to help 'em. So offer value, ask for referrals. Take the action about talking about your business until you get good at it. Every coaching conversation, even the free ones will build your skillset and will build your credibility. One last thing I'll say about talking about your business.

Once you start talking about, and you have conversations, even free coaching sessions, and you're sharing what you do. You can then start telling about the conversations that you've had. I've already shared with you a couple of coaching conversations that I had today. it gives you more content to even talk about through your social media.

It gives you things to share. the more conversations, the more content you'll have. here's my final message. I've already shared with you. Why over 50. It is the best time to start your coaching business. I've already shared with you what the incredible opportunity is. I know how smart you are. It is a better time than ever to market your business if you do it correctly.

You've lived the experience. It's your story, and you have the energy and the wisdom to do this. Women are looking for leaders just like you, but they will only know about you if you market your business. Are y'all hearing me on this? I want you to learn how to do this. I have a brand new workshop.

I'm actually gonna show you a complete framework of what it really takes to build that professional, polished, boutique style coaching business. Comment the word masterclass. It's a step-by-step process. Now, ladies, before we end? How are you gonna get yourself out there? What are you gonna create for a weekly plan? This is so important for you to not just sit here and learn. It's to take action. . I can't wait to hear from you. Send me a dm. I wanna hear about all the life changing coaching that you're doing, the transformations you're creating.

if you want to hear more about this, make sure you subscribe. Hit the bell so you don't miss anything. And next week I'll be sharing more strategies for growing your coaching business. All right. Until next time. Have a beautiful week. Bye-bye.
