If you're a coach over 50 wondering how to price your coaching offer, what to charge as a new life coach, or how to set your coaching rates without feeling like a fraud, this video is for you. If you've been told you need high ticket pricing to be taken seriously as a coach, and that advice feels completely wrong for where you are right now, you're in the right place.
High ticket pricing isn't the problem, but forcing it on yourself before you're ready is. In this video, I'll show you why starting at a grounded, confident price point will actually get you your first clients faster and set you up for sustainable growth.
We will discuss why high ticket pricing creates imposter syndrome for brand new coaches, and what actually happens in your confidence and your business when you pick a starter price you feel good about. We will cover the four shifts that come from pricing to sell instead of pricing to impress, how the stairstep method lets you raise your prices naturally as you get results, what premium coaching really means after 50, and how to build a simple starter package without funnels, fancy software, or a membership site.
You don't need a high-ticket price to feel like a real coach. You need a price you can say out loud with confidence, clients you can over-deliver for, and a process that proves you can get results. That's how you build a business you're proud of, not one you feel like you have to defend.

TRANSCRIPT
If you're a woman over 50 who is starting an online business, you have probably heard lots of gurus say you need to charge high ticket pricing, 3,000, 4,000, $5,000. But I wanna tell you, if that feels kind of nerve-wracking to you, I get it, because I remember thinking, "Wait a minute. What? I don't know if I'm ready for that." And I wanna tell you, I agree, you might not be ready for that. Today, I'm gonna have a really honest and transparent conversation about what it takes to build a coaching business at this stage in your life, and honestly, what it takes to build a coaching business at any stage in your life. We're gonna talk through why forcing high-ticket pricing on you from day one is actually a big mistake, it will create imposter syndrome, and why delivering $5,000 worth of value, this is something you're not thinking about. Let me say that again. Why delivering $5,000 worth of value, that is a learned skill. You have to learn how to do that with your coaching. You have to get comfortable with being able to deliver the coaching value that somebody is paying you. I want you to start at a grounded price point that will actually help you sell clients faster, where you can over-deliver with pride, and you can build real momentum in your business. If we have not met, I am Debbie Shadid. I'm a business coach for women over 50. I've been at this for over two decades. I help women build simple, profitable businesses based on the truth, integrity, and I want you to have sustainable growth without a bunch of hype and without burnout. So grab your notebook. This is a master class where I'm gonna teach you how to take the pressure off and really build an offer that you will actually feel proud of and one that you can actually feel comfortable selling. So let's talk about the typical advice that you hear online. This is where people are starting to feel resistance. When you are told, "Never charge less than $3,000," there's two things that are gonna happen. First, saying the price out loud could feel completely unnatural. You're on the phone with somebody, your voice gets shaky. You know, you get that feeling of like,"Ugh, it doesn't feel right." I like to think of that as your intuition is sort of like screaming at you, right? When you feel that and you're like, "That's not what you should be charging," you should listen to that voice, my friend. The second thing is, once you sell that offer at a high-ticket price, you have to learn how to deliver the results that you told them about. And I can tell you, when you have a high-ticket price associated with it, the person who's paid for it expects a lot, and you have to be able to provide a transformation that is worth that. Now, while I think coaching is priceless, I really do believe that, I don't even know how you can measure a transformation that comes from a coaching, you just have to know that when you're first starting out, those are gonna be the thoughts that you have. You're gonna be thinking like, "Oh, gosh, did they really get their money's worth?" So for most beginners who have not had, like, 20 clients, delivering a high-ticket pricing, delivering this high-tier consulting or coaching process is going to require you having a process, you having experience with lots of roadblocks, and honestly, you have to have mastery in your clients' dynamics. When you skip the foundation and you jump straight into high-ticket pricing, you create an impossible standard for yourself. You get stuck in imposter syndrome, and honestly, that comes up even when you are aligned with your pricing. This is about you not having this type of experience yet, and I say yet. It could be that you're a great coach or you definitely can help somebody, but if you've never spent hours on Zoom across from somebody answering questions, coaching, holding space, teaching, all those things, you will experience imposter syndrome. It's almost guaranteed, even if you are coaching on the very thing that you know, and it's natural. It's because you haven't done that thing before. But when you add on the layer of a high-priced offer, you really can start to get severe imposter syndrome. You can feel like you're a fraud, and subconsciously, you will stop putting yourself out there because you might be terrified somebody would say yes. And I know you're thinking, "Oh, that would never be the case, Debbie," but I know for sure people start to feel this way. It starts playing with their head. So now let's talk about what could work for you. What happens when you pick a starter price? You will feel so calm. I'm not kidding. Let's say that you decide to do a six or eight-week coaching package for $500.$500. You know what happens? There's an immediate shift in you and in your business. Number one, you're gonna feel completely comfortable selling your services. When somebody asks you what your price is, you're gonna be happy to say it. There's not gonna be any drama about like, "Oh, am I overcharging? Should I offer a discount?" It's like, "No, it's 500 bucks." You're not gonna feel guilty when you ask about collecting $500 for your coaching. You will, without a shadow of a doubt, know that what you're offering is so much more worth it than what they're paying. Like, you're getting your money's worth and more. This is how you create real confidence. So that is it. You want to feel completely comfortable selling your services and delivering the services. Number two, you give yourself more room to over-deliver. Instead of stressing over whether you're living up to this massive price that you just charged, you're gonna feel free to pour your heart into everything you do. I just launched a brand-new program, it is my lowest priced program, and I had our second coaching call last night, and I was coaching on all kinds of stuff that was not part of the program, and I was giving them things that would help them in their business, all kinds of things outside of what I had promised them. But you know what? I was happy to do it because I felt so comfortable with what I was offering. I felt good about it. I'm so excited that these 10 women got to work with me for that price, and I got to over-deliver to them. I got to surprise and delight them. You will love it when you get to over-give to somebody. When you get to give incredible high-touch support, you're gonna go to bed at night and be so proud of yourself and sleep well knowing that you really have taken care of that person. The third piece that I wanna talk about is that you can get them results without the financial strain. This is important. When your client enters your coaching container feeling excited and grateful, Not stressed over the amount of money that they might feel like they're gambling when they invested in you. When it's a low price, they're like, "Hey, I'm all in. This is great. Like, this is the best deal ever." This is a shift that you need to make. You can help them get real results without them feeling stressed out about money. It creates a positive environment for both you and for the client, which then creates an open coaching relationship from day one. The fourth shift is for you to see that you will actually open up more opportunities to make more offers. It is going to be easier for you to find women who will invest $500 than for you to find people who will hand over five grand to you. This is just the truth. It will give you the confidence to have more conversations, to practice more, and to be able to do the thing that you really want to do. now I want you to wipe out the internet's definition of the word premium. Premium does not mean slapping a high price on a coaching package. I'm gonna tell you at 50 plus what premium should mean. It should mean quality service. It should mean quality connection. It should mean quality and warmth of human connection that you provide through your coaching. Premium coaching is about taking care of somebody. Think about the woman in our demographic who's over 50. They do not want 50 training videos in a portal. I know this because I have training videos, and what I'm doing right now is cutting them down shorter and shorter, and I'm eliminating videos. I mean, I'm doing very small trainings that are only the most necessary. Because you know what my woman wants? She wants to be in the room with me. She wants to be in the space where she can get that personalized, customized support. She doesn't wanna have worksheets. She doesn't need an app. She wants to know, "How do I get in the room with you? How do I contact you in between sessions? How do I get clarity? How can this be simple? And how can I have a mentor or a coach who actually listens to me and who can really guide me?" When you provide that really calm, high-touch space and that type of coaching, your clients will get results. They will actually be able to solve problems because everybody will feel better. That, to me, is premium, not the price tag, but the level of service that you give. If you wanna be unforgettable, and if you wanna get referrals, you start delivering premium coaching instead of premium pricing, and I'll tell you, you will be on your way to really having an incredible business. So whether you charge $600 or$1,200 or whatever it is, your experience can still be five-star. It really can. So maybe you're thinking, " How do I eventually earn more without feeling like an imposter?" Well, let me tell you, there's a stairstep method that I think you should do. The first step is to think about your first client. That's like the foundation that you build. And you start with that introductory offer where you are comfortable. It is your primary goal to get clients in to maximize the coaching that you give and the experience that you give, and to validate your offer. This is a big piece a lot of people are not talking about. You need to prove that you can get client results. You do that through a validation process. You need to get comfortable with guiding people from point A to point B, and then over-deliver because you wanna get great reviews. That's the first step and that first level, your foundational clients. The second step is where you kind of have this confidence boost. You've had two or three, four clients. Now you're like, "Okay, I know I can do this. I've successfully worked with a handful of clients. I've gotten them across the finish line. They're excited. I'm excited. I don't have to guess if this works anymore. I know it works." What will happen at this point? Is you will naturally raise your price. You will say like, "Okay, I know now the value's there." And when you get on that next consultation and you have that conversation, you'll charge more. It's just a natural stairstep progression. You'll charge 250 or $500 more It will be comfortable and the other person will hear you, and it will all work on both ends. They're gonna say yes because now you have the clients that you're talking about, you have the results as you have walked people through your framework, and it all works. The third step is scaling. Many of you guys are not gonna get to that point because you don't wanna have this giant business. You want a business with freedom, with flexibility, and that comes from keeping your business smaller. But I'll talk about the third step which is scaling. So as your calendar starts to fill up, and it doesn't matter whether you only have five spots, you can be fully booked at five spots. So if you have five spots and they're always full, this actually could be the step that you're at. So once your calendar fills up to that and you have a lot of testimonials, you continue to raise your price. There'll be a moment where you say,"You know what? I need to set my price so it really matches the demand for what I have." And this isn't about doing some high-ticket outrageous price again, but it's about raising the price up to a certain level because you really do have demand for it. That's what I would call scaling. Scaling the value and scaling the price at the same time. That only happens when you really are fully booked and you're having to have people join a wait list or wait. This really is how you will grow your business. You don't just jump to the top of the ladder. I stair-stepped you up. Right from the first day, you're climbing the rungs of the ladder. You want to build a business that you can confidently know that it works, and that you are good at coaching the people through what it is you said you're going to coach them through. Maybe you're wondering what your starter package would actually look like. Now I've got the wheels turning and you're thinking, "Okay, how do I keep this simple?" Well, the first thing is you want to think about creating one clear transformation. From point A to point B, what does that look like? Don't try to fix their health, their marriage, their business, their daily routines all at once. When you have a niche, you focus on one thing. It's one health problem where you can take somebody who is in one health situation from point A to point B and improve their health. You cannot do everything. You focus on the one thing that you can create a clear transformation on. The second point that I wanna mention is you wanna have it in a specific timeline. In the beginning, six months is a long time. It feels like a lifetime to work with somebody. Now I work with people six months, a year. I mean, I have these beautiful clients that just stick around with me for a couple of years because after I've coached them, then I know their business and they wanna keep coming back. You will get there, but in the beginning, I recommend that you start with smaller timelines, maybe six to eight weeks, right? Keep it small, get your clients in, get them to have real progress, get them to finish strong and really be able to create a result. And then guess what? They can re-sign with you and get on to the next thing. They can continue with you on the journey. They can re-up. Whatever you're gonna do, that can definitely be part of it. The third step I wanna talk about is you having high-touch calls. Whether it's a 45 or a 50-minute or one-hour session on Zoom, you want to keep things simple, and you wanna have a check-in in between. One of the things that I do is I have a spreadsheet, and I actually track with a little check mark who's been to coaching every week, and then I also mark down who have I not seen, and I send them a message. I don't do it every week 'cause I don't want people to feel like I'm pestering them, but I send a check-in, and I get messages back that say, "Well, God, that was so nice of you to check on me." I want to keep people engaged. If they have paid me, then whether they're coming to coaching or not, I'm gonna take the investment that they paid me, and I'm gonna stay in touch. I'm not one of these coaches that says, "Hey, they paid me. It's all on you." It is all on you to build your business, but I'm here to support you, and you paid me for support. So you do not need fancy software. You don't need a membership. You don't need a funnel. You don't need a course. You just need to have the time to utilize your experience to help somebody. You need an honest price that you feel comfortable with, and you just need to focus on a few people to get those initial results in that first foundational step with your first clients. Building a business over 50 is one of the most rewarding things that you will do. I can tell you that for sure because I've done it and I've helped hundreds of people do it. you have decades of wisdom. You have compassion and empathy and a resilience that is real because of real-life experiences that you can share with the world. Do not let the hype online make you feel like you're not good enough for not charging $5,000. Give yourself permission to start where you should start. Yeah, I just said you should start there. You get to decide what it's gonna be, but I recommend, based on talking to all kinds of women, that you'll feel good starting at a lower price. You decide what price it is, and then over-deliver. Make it so people are just delighted with what you have done for them, and let those people be your number one salespeople. That's what I always say. Your first clients should get the best results because they will forever be your salespeople. They're gonna be the testimonials that you share, so give them your best. Take the pressure off. Enjoy your business. That's why you went into business for yourself. You wanted to have fun. Otherwise, stay working at your J-O-B, your job, when you take your pressure off, your business can truly become fun. You can actually enjoy it, and isn't that what we're here for? When you do that, you it's so fun and so rewarding. If you are ready to see how all the pieces fit together, finding your first clients and setting up this simple weekly schedule, there's a video I'm gonna leave here, which is the ultimate plan to building an online coaching business. This is a step-by-step roadmap, and it's the next step for you. Click that video. Let's keep building your business. I am Debbie Shadid. So glad that you're here.
