TRANSCRIPT

If you're thinking about starting a coaching business heading into this new year, you probably heard people say, " Just follow your passion and coach on whatever you love." I wanna give you some tough love today. That advice is the reason so many brilliant women struggle to get clients. Most new coaches choose what I call fluffy niches, things like midlife reinvention, finding your purpose, stepping into your next chapter. I'm sorry if I'm hurting your feelings by saying that, but the hard truth is nobody wakes up at 2 o'clock in the morning in panic thinking, "I need to hire a midlife reinvention coach." People do not invest in vague coaching ideas. People pay to get out of immediate painful problems. They pay to make money, save money, protect their future, relieve chronic stress. Today, we're gonna cut through the fluff and look at the four most profitable coaching niches for the new year, where clients are actively searching and willing to pay right now. Plus, two popular niches you should steer clear of if you actually want to have a profitable business. You guys ready? Let's dive in. Pillar number one, midlife career reinvention and corporate exit. The first high-demand, high-profit niche is midlife career reinvention. Notice I didn't say generic career coaching. I am talking about helping experienced professionals over 50 who are currently in corporate roles, and they are feeling pushed out, or they're feeling pushed to the brink because they're not able to keep up with their younger counterparts. Here's what's happening out there. These women have decades of deep wisdom and experience, but suddenly they find themselves reporting to a 30-year-old manager who is telling them what to do. Maybe you can relate. They see younger colleagues moving at lightning speed with new tech and with AI, and they feel threatened by ageism. On top of that, because their salaries are high, they often feel the push, that quiet push from leadership towards the door. They're exhausted from the commute, the office politics, and they feel undervalued. If they want a new job, the hiring landscape has completely changed. Resumes are screened by software. Interviews are done on Zoom and through automated platforms. It feels completely foreign and really intimidated. If you can be a coach who helps them modernize their resume or LinkedIn profile, master modern video interview techniques, or create a strategic exit plan to transition their skills into consulting or a flexible coaching side hustle, that is worth real money. You are protecting their income, their dignity, and their future. Pillar number two, integrative health, menopause, and longevity support. This is the second massive opportunity. When I say integrative health and menopause and longevity support, what do you think of? A lot of people are really interested in living healthy, long lives. There really is a huge cultural shift happening right now around women's health. Women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are no longer accepting the fact that it's okay to just feel exhausted, it's okay to have brain fog, or to struggle with your sleep, or just let those hormones just be as they are because you're just getting older. That's just part of it. They want to live vibrant, healthy lives, and they wanna live well, like healthy, enjoying their life into their 80s, 90s, and beyond. Here's the problem. Traditional medicine is not set up to give them the time that they need. You know a typical doctor maybe has five, 10 minutes to do everything with a patient. They can hand out a prescription or order some labs, but they don't have the time to sit down and walk through lifestyle and daily habits, and even the things that are kind of minor annoyances. That is why people are turning to concierge medicine and to functional doctors, and that person is your ideal client. Why do those clients hire a coach? Two reasons, accountability and personalized partnership. They know what they need to do. I think we all do, but they cannot stick with it alone. Having knowledge and an empathetic coach walking beside them every week to help them implement those daily new nutrition habits, to sleep better, and the lifestyle habits really becomes a high priority, and it is of high value to people who genuinely want to live long, healthy lives. This is something that people will invest in. The third pillar, practical AI and tech confidence for adult fifty plus. I think this is going to be an incredible opportunity. Our third top niche is the one, honestly, this niche right here is the one that I believe is going to explode like nothing we have seen. The truth is, the pace of technology and AI is moving at an unbelievable speed. Every day I hear announcements about some crazy thing that happened in AI, and I'm telling you what, can you imagine if you had not been using AI over the last year or two? You'd be lost. So if you didn't start learning it a couple of years ago, then you probably feel overwhelmed yourself. Most people think AI is just about asking a chatbot a question or to write a polite email. They're completely missing the massive leverage it offers. For adults over fifty, especially solopreneurs, professionals, and small business owners, there is a real barrier there. They want to learn, but they feel uncomfortable asking, and I'm gonna do air quotes here, "the dumb questions," right? I had a client tell me one time, "Debbie, I can literally ask you the same question ten times and you never get frustrated." I understand this. I'm not patting myself on the back, but I know what it's like to be stuck on something. Even today when I learn new tech and I'm like, "Oh my goodness, why can't somebody just tell me what to do?" It is really rough to learn that stuff. So if you can provide the knowledge, the understanding, and the space to let people ask the same question over and over, you'll have an incredible business. When you ask for help from a younger family member, I'm telling you what, that doesn't work either. And it goes the same for these people that would want to hire you. Their family members, their colleagues, and the people that they would like to rely on to help them are often really impatient. They're moving their hands across the keyboard so fast they can't even see what happened. If you have patience, and you have clear communication skills, and you can map out a step-by-step approach to teaching tech and AI, or one or the other, tech or AI, there is an incredible demand for this. You aren't teaching computer programming. You are giving mature adults their confidence back so they can run their businesses, streamline their daily tasks, and never feel like they are being left behind again. This is really a true reality. So many people, even in corporate careers, feel like they are being left behind because they don't know what they're doing with AI, and it's intimidating. Pillar number four, midlife dating and marriage preservation. Now, there's some high urgency to both of those, and let me talk about those. Now, relationship coaching can easily become fluffy if we aren't careful. But there are two specific situations that carry really immense pain. First of all, dating after not being in the dating field for a long time. We've all heard about this gray divorce thing that's going on right now. Can you imagine losing a spouse after twenty-five, thirty years, Or being divorced after three decades? Yeah, that means that they haven't actually dated since the '90s, and they know nothing about dating apps, nothing about setting up a profile, and how to spot online scammers. When I hear those stories, y'all, I am like, "Thank goodness I have a husband that I love, and we're in good shape," because that sounds awful. But if you can help somebody navigate those modern dating boundaries, the fear and the vulnerability that comes with that, that is a real feeling. Helping somebody get comfortable and confident and feel safe as they reenter the dating world really is profound, and there is urgency around that. If you can't do that on your own and you haven't been dating and you're ready to date, You can really help somebody with that one. The second one I mentioned was marriage preservation. Think about that, preserving a marriage. When a marriage is on the rocks after decades together, the alternative is divorce, which is financially devastating and emotionally painful. Coaching provides practical, grounded communication strategies to help couples repair their partnership, but also to plan for the future, right? Coaching is forward-focused. It gives somebody an opportunity to get out of the mess of all of what was and to be talking about what is possible for them. There is an immense return on an investment when you are able to help somebody preserve a marriage. I don't even know how you measure the value of that compounded over a lifetime. Now, before you go picking a niche, let's talk about the two categories I see new coaches choose all the time where they almost always struggle to make money. The first one is supporting caregivers. I have been a caregiver to my mother and to my grandmother, and I know what it's like, And I actually, I remember thinking and saying it out loud a lot like, "Why didn't somebody tell me what this was gonna be like? Like, why didn't somebody help me understand some of these things?" Well, the thing is, is when you're in the middle of it, you don't have time to help somebody. While you're in the middle of it, you don't have time to get help. It really does break my heart to say that if you want to help caregivers, while they deserve the support, I can tell you in reality after working with many caregiver coaches, they really have a difficult time getting hired. It always sounds like a good idea, but if they are taking care of somebody, and a lot of times they're taking care of kids and their parents, and they're working full-time. They are tapped out financially, and they're just tapped out emotionally and physically. They just don't have any extra time for coaching. They're in crisis mode. Their mental bandwidth is very small, so to have a weekly coaching call with you is not on the priority list. The second niche that I want to tell you about is just general empty nest coaching. Empty nest is an emotional milestone. It really is. I only have one daughter, and I can tell you, when she left home, ugh, I didn't sleep. I was so lonely for her. But you know what? It wasn't that urgent. Yeah, I was grieving. I was grieving my daughter going to college and the change that had happened in our life, But I wasn't thinking all night long like, "Where am I gonna find an empty nest coach?" I mean, I hate to be like that, but I'm trying to help you build and select a profitable coaching business. Empty nesting is not an acute emergency. When people feel sadness, like I was just describing, I remember that. I was just thinking, "Well, with time I'm gonna get over it." I wouldn't have been hiring a coach. So always look at the problem that feels most urgent today. If you are ready to take your life experience to choose a profitable niche to build a simple, sustainable coaching business heading into the new year, you don't have to figure it out alone.
