We'll see you there
Hey, welcome to the podcast. Today I'm going to do something different. I'm going to be on YouTube as I always am, but I'm going to be sharing a diagram over there. So you might want to go over there and watch. I will make sure that I explain it so that if you're listening to the podcast, you will get everything clearly laid out for you.
But we're going to talk about content today. So marketing is necessary, right? One of the problems with marketing is you either don't know how to do it or you don't know what to say. Okay. So let's see if we can solve the, I don't know what to say problem today. I want to talk to you about creating content categories.
This is one of the things that we do inside the business building boutique. We talk about making your offer and when you have your offer and the process for your coaching, you will be creating categories because there'll be something that you coach about on this week and something you coach about next week and something you coach about the next week.
Those would become like categories. The things that you always talk about in your coaching, which could also be the things that you always talk about in your marketing. So, think about your niche client. What are the most common problems that they have? What are the things that they experience? Just make a list.
What are the things that come up with nearly every single person in your coaching? So I could say about my clients, I could say so many people tell me over and over, like I'm not very good at the technology. You know, like, I don't know how to use Canva, okay? So many people say, like, I'm really passionate about what I'm doing.
I just need to get clients, okay? Those could be categories. Getting clients and not being good at technology. Okay, so those are categories. And I want you to come up with seven categories, okay? I'm going to show you a diagram in just a minute so that you can further see how this works. Then, I just want to give you an overview about pillars that then support the categories.
So if I said that the category was getting clients, the pillars that support that would be, okay, to get clients you have to market, you have to be able to communicate effectively, you have to be able to create a professional brand image for people to see, Right, you have to know where to connect with people, like where do you generate leads?
Like those are four pillars that would support the category of getting clients, alright? And then even further below that are going to be a series of supporting statements that support those pillars. So, if one of the pillars is Having a professional brand a statement about that that I might say is you only have one chance to make a first impression Can you see how you could have a whole little group of?
Statements then that support the pillar that then further support the category All right Let me go ahead and go over and show you guys if you happen to be on YouTube you can take a look Let me show you what it is that I'm talking about by diagram.
what I have shown here is that there are some main content topics.
So you could be naming problems, concepts that you teach in your coaching. I know at the life coach school, we talk about boundaries. We talk about the model. That's a concept or tool from the life coach school. Then there's going to be processes. for us, this is a process that I am teaching you.
You might have. a methodology like how you lose weight or how you, you know, build muscle. You might have a key belief. One of the key beliefs that might be my key belief, a category that I had is like people think it's hard to grow a business, right? That might be a key belief that you have that I want to overcome.
What's a key desire or an outcome that somebody wants? Like, An outcome would be to get clients, right? A key desire might be to become a well known coach. So I want you to think about what your categories could be. Start today by just making a list. Then I want you to think over the next couple of weeks as you kind of work through your business, are those the main things?
that people are talking about. Are those the main things that I'm talking about over and over? So those are your categories. I recommend that you pick seven of them. If you're watching on YouTube, the diagram says get four to six categories, but look, make it easy for yourself. Get a category topic for every single day of the week.
All right. And then, as I mentioned below that, the pillars are holding up the categories. So you're going to have four to six categories pillar topics that further support the category. Those pillars could be supporting the category by explaining how the problem plays out or how the problem shows up or where the problem shows up Right, it could be ways that the concept is applied.
You know more details about the concept There could be a process, like, for example, if I talk about the Life Coach School, the model, I could talk about the way that the model works. And the model is, five different lines that you go through and you work the model out with somebody. I could further explain that the belief, how does it affect the client?
And if something is a desire or an outcome that somebody has, that's your main category. How is this desire triggered or how do you create the outcome? So again, imagine the categories at the top. You've got the pillars that are supporting it. And then below that, even deeper, you're building a house here, even deeper down than are these pillar statements.
And it's interesting. I want to challenge you to think about your business too, because there are some viewpoints that you have that you repeat all the time. There are some things that you think all the time. There are some coin phrases that you use all the time. If you guys have been listening to my podcast, you guys know, there's some things that I say often I say there's money in your list. marketing is the ATM to your business. I say that. So you're going to have some things that you say. You are going to have a personal twist on a concept. So, you know, one of the things I say is you have to sell your freebie. Right? Your freebie isn't actually free.
You have to sell it. That means you have to go market to somebody to give them the email address to get the freebie. So freebie is not free. Then how do you overcome things? So today I'm helping you overcome your challenge of not being able to come up with enough things to talk about on social media by helping you create categories, pillars, and pillar statements.
To have this own map. Now, again, if you're on YouTube, I would encourage you guys, or if you're on the podcast, go look at YouTube, because can you imagine taking this and making an entire mind map out of this? You guys, if you're good at Canva, go into Canva and do it. If you're not great at Canva, just get a poster board and do this.
If you had seven categories and underneath each category you had four to six pillars that supported the category and then you had the four to six pillar statements, you guys would have more content than you ever knew what to do. All right, back to the podcast. Now, what do you want to do with all of that content?
First of all, I want to encourage you to build your boutique business. and lifestyle by repeating the content. Yeah, we talk about that a lot, but honestly, you guys, the algorithm is not going to show your stuff to somebody all the time. I want you to think about your own consumer behavior and what happens.
If you connected with me for the first time. And you loved me. Chances are you would go on Instagram and you'd start looking at all my stuff. Maybe you'd go to my grid and you'd look and you'd go through all the stuff. Maybe you'd come to the podcast and you would binge listen to it. But here's the interesting thing, you guys, I just did this recently with a coach and I was looking at all of her stuff.
I was thinking about joining her program and it's less than a week from the time that I sort of binged on her. Her posts aren't even showing up in my Instagram feed. Now, that means that you have to do a lot of marketing to ensure that your posts keep getting shown to people. I don't think that you can send too many emails.
I don't think you can post too many times. And I think you need to have a variety of places. So again, you make this easy by having your categories of content. Another reason why you want to have categories and you want to have repeating content is you want to become well known. People love this whole idea about having a professional looking business because they went to the Canva workshop.
Interestingly enough, that is not actually something my client would have said that they wanted, but it's a concept that now I'm known for. It's something that I've taught people that they should desire, and I use that in my marketing all the time. And now people are like, Oh yeah, I want a professional business.
I don't want to just wing it. I want to look good. I want to be seen as somebody who could be respected. I want to have a reputation as a coach. I want to look like I'm fully booked because I look like a professional from the beginning. That could be another key thing that you do. Maybe there's something you're always talking to people about.
You know, weight loss, there's several things that come to mind, like dieting doesn't have to be hard. How about restriction free dieting? That might be something that you say all the time. Or, what about no more counting calories? That might be your theme that you have. So, you want to think through your business, think through your coaching calls, and create this for yourself.
Don't let this be a little lesson that you listen to where you don't actually take the action. Marketing is more important than ever, And if you want to have a thriving coaching practice, and if you want to become known for some things, you have to do that by repeating the same things over and over.
And I'll tell you what, you're going to get bored with yourself. I am like, Oh my God, I say the same things over and over. But here's the thing. Clients that come to my coaching calls that hear me say the same things over and over and sometimes I hear it in my head I'm like, oh lord, you just said that But the thing is it depends on where you're at in your journey You might hear it the first time and learn something from it the first time.
The second time you hear it, you'll be at a different place in your business and you hear it in a different way. So even in your coaching, repeating the same things over and over, Lord knows, I need to hear something over and over sometimes before I finally have that light bulb moment. And I'm like, ah, that's it.
I know yesterday in a coaching session, I was coaching somebody on something. And Actually, it was on content. I was trying to help her see that she should change some beliefs about content. Here's a lesson for you guys. I said, look, you got to believe that you're a good writer. Our social media coach was telling our clients who are working on getting live on social media.
She said, look, just go on social media and imagine that you're FaceTiming your best friend and you're just talking to him. And, That is such a great way to think about all of your marketing. Just imagine that you're talking to your best friend on FaceTime and what would you say? By the way, you would not start out saying, Hi, I'm Debbie Shadid.
I am. You wouldn't start out with that. You would just start out talking because they're like your best girlfriend. The same goes for all of the marketing, that you do. So I was telling this client, look, what if you are a good marketer? What if you just have a conversation with somebody? What if marketing was not actually hard at all?
And I was talking her about shifting beliefs and we had this deep conversation and like 15 minutes after we had the conversation, another client says in the chat, okay, I just got that. It just hit me. I see what you're saying now. So you never know when somebody is going to get what it is you're talking about.
So repeating it over and over, explaining it till you feel like you can't explain it any other way. And then think, Hmm, how could I come at this from a new direction? How could I further explain this? That's why I created the diagram, actually. Thais Glenn, our mindset coach, is actually helping our clients with social media and she's talking to them about these categories and these pillars and these pillar statements.
I had to make the diagram for myself because I was like, we should make this diagram to be able to show people that is one further way for us to talk about the same thing, but show it in a different way. So are you doing that? Consider all these things today. I want to challenge you to first think about your niche client.
Just make some notes after this podcast, commit to do this, make a list of things that are the common topics. And as I mentioned, just take the next couple of weeks and think about what are the things that keep coming up and write those down and then start thinking about what are the things I say all the time.
and write those down as your pillar statements that support the pillars that support the categories. Make your life easy so that you can do your marketing in a repeated way and so you can do more of it. You guys, it will get to be fun. If you're talking about the same thing, you know, then when you want to go learn something new, you just learn something in that same category.
Right? All of this learning that you're doing, you just focus it into, let's say the seven categories that you pick. Then you're constantly pouring new inspiration into yourself, into your business, but it's all anchored around the same category topics so that you stay consistent in your messaging. Within your brand, you'll be consistent and you will become known.
You'll become a well known coach for certain things. That's what I want for you. All right, you guys have an amazing day. I hope this was helpful. Now go take action on this. I'll see y'all very soon. Bye bye.
